Before you enrol
Aventus Tutoring is operated by M.Z AL-RAFI & M.A UDDIN, ABN 41 922 008 262. Classes are held in Bentley, Western Australia.
We confirm the student’s subjects, class times, location, term dates, total price and payment arrangement in writing before paid enrolment. A parent or guardian must agree for a student under 18. Your first enquiry or trial booking does not commit you to a paid term.
Your free trial and term
New students can try one week free before deciding to enrol. Our advertised introductory term contains 10 weekly classes per subject: one free trial and nine paid classes. Each class runs for 1.5 hours, with a maximum of six students. Returning students, late starts and shorter terms receive a written quote explaining the number of paid classes; the free trial is not automatically repeated each term.
Classes include workbooks, weekly homework, progress tracking, parent feedback, diagnostic testing and snacks. Please tell us about relevant allergies before attending. Learning outcomes depend on several factors, so we do not guarantee a particular mark or ATAR.
Prices and discounts
Years 7–10: $465.75 for one subject, $680.40 for two, or $893.03 for three for the introductory term. The equivalent paid hourly rates are $34.50, $25.20 and $22.05 per subject respectively.
Year 11: $35 per paid hour for one subject, or $31.50 per subject with two or more. Year 12: $40 per paid hour for one subject, or $36 per subject with two or more. Each subject has 13.5 paid hours in the introductory term.
The 10% multi-subject discount applies to two or more subjects taken by the same student. It is already included in the discounted prices. Sibling concessions are considered case by case and apply only if confirmed in writing. We do not combine siblings’ subject counts automatically. Prices agreed for an enrolled term will not be increased during that term.
Payment arrangements
One-subject plans are paid upfront, on the date agreed in the enrolment confirmation. For two or more subjects, choose an agreed upfront date in Weeks 2–4, or four instalments in Weeks 2, 4, 6 and 8. Both eligible arrangements receive the same package discount. Rounding may make the last instalment differ by a few cents.
If payment will be difficult, contact us before it is due. We will discuss a reasonable arrangement. We will not add an undisclosed late fee. If a payment remains overdue, we will contact the parent and give reasonable written notice before pausing future paid lessons.
Missed classes and approved absences
If a student misses a class that runs as scheduled, the full class fee remains payable because their place, tutor time and materials have been reserved. This includes forgetting a class, a timetable clash or an unapproved absence.
For a valid reason, such as medical illness, injury or a serious family emergency, you may request an approved absence. Contact Mahir or Safwan as soon as reasonably possible, preferably before class. We understand that emergencies can make advance notice impossible. Requests are assessed fairly and consistently; we may ask for reasonable supporting information, but do not require a detailed diagnosis.
For an approved absence, we charge 50% of that class’s fee and waive the other 50%. This contribution covers the reserved place and operating costs. The calculation uses the rate actually agreed for your plan, including any discount. If you have already paid, we refund the waived amount or apply a credit if you prefer. We confirm the decision and adjustment in writing.
Example: a Year 7–10 three-subject lesson costs $33.075 before cent rounding ($22.05 × 1.5 hours). An approved absence is charged at half that amount, rounded to $16.54. Your invoice shows the adjustment. A free trial class never attracts an absence fee.
A replacement lesson is subject to availability and is not automatically included in an absence adjustment. Please keep students home when unwell. This policy does not limit any remedy you are entitled to under Australian Consumer Law.
Changes, withdrawal and classes we cancel
If you need to change subjects or withdraw, email us or message either founder. Give seven calendar days’ notice to end paid enrolment. Scheduled classes during that notice period remain payable, subject to the approved-absence rule; unused fees for classes after the notice period are refunded. We do not retrospectively remove discounts already earned or impose a separate withdrawal fee. A reduction in subjects changes the rate for future classes only, confirmed in writing.
If we cancel a class, we will offer a suitable replacement that you may accept. If no suitable replacement is agreed, we refund the full amount paid for that class or provide a credit if you choose. The 50% absence charge does not apply to a class we cancel.
Contact us promptly about a problem with our service so we can try to resolve it. Nothing in these terms excludes consumer guarantees or rights to a remedy, refund or cancellation under Australian Consumer Law. Statutory rights take priority over any notice period or other restriction in these terms.
Resources and support
Our teaching materials are for the enrolled student’s personal study. Do not sell, publish or redistribute them without permission. This does not restrict uses permitted by law.
Plans with three or more subjects include a tutor support channel. Students can send questions 24/7; tutors reply during the support hours explained at enrolment. It is not an instant response or emergency service. Parents are included in the agreed communication arrangements for students under 18.
Questions or complaints
Mahir: 0410 857 557. Safwan: 0480 237 465. Email: aventustutoring@gmail.com.
Please explain what happened and the outcome you are seeking. A founder will acknowledge your complaint and discuss the next steps. If your concern is about one founder, contact the other. If it remains unresolved, you may seek assistance from Consumer Protection WA. We welcome concerns and will not disadvantage a student for raising one.
Changes to these policies apply prospectively. We will tell enrolled families about material changes and obtain agreement where a change affects their existing contract.
